Pirates booty: Pittsburgh steals win from Tampa in 13 innings
Baseball Betting Lines
06/29/2008 -
Pittsburgh, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Jason Bay's home run in the bottom of the
13th inning lifted the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 4-3 win over Tampa Bay in the
middle contest of a three-game interleague series.
Jason Hammel pitched a scoreless 12th inning and returned to the mound for the
Rays in the 13th, getting Nate McLouth to foul out and Freddy Sanchez to line
out to begin the frame.
But Bay stepped up and crushed a solo homer to left-center field to end the
game, and give the Pirates just their second win in the past five games.
John Van Benschoten (1-2) took the win after tossing a scoreless top of the
13th while Ty Taubenheim was solid in a six-inning start. Taubenheim, who made
his Pirates debut after appearing in 13 games with Toronto over the past two
seasons, gave up two runs on seven hits.
Taubenheim also doubled and drove in a run, while Adam LaRoche and Doug
Mientkiewicz added an RBI each.
Hammel (3-3) took the loss for Tampa Bay, which had won four in a row. Rays
starter Edwin Jackson gave up three runs on six hits in 6 2/3 frames.
Evan Longoria and Dioner Navarro each drove in a run for the Rays, while
Jonny Gomes had a pinch-hit home run in defeat.
The Rays got on the scoreboard first, when B.J. Upton and Carl Crawford began
the game with a pair of singles, putting runners on the corners. After
Crawford stole second, Longoria lofted a sacrifice fly to center, sending
Upton home for a 1-0 Tampa Bay lead.
Pittsburgh tied the game in the second on LaRoche's run-scoring ground out,
plating Ryan Doumit, and took the lead in the fifth. Jose Bautista led off the
fifth with a double, and after a Jack Wilson fly out, Taubenheim smoked a two-
base hit to left. Bautista scored to put the Pirates in front, 2-1.
The back-and-forth game continued, however, in the next inning. Eric Hinske
led off the sixth with a double and later scored on Navarro's single to make
it a 2-2 game. Navarro was then caught stealing second, which proved critical,
as Willy Aybar and Jason Bartlett followed with a single each. With Navarro
off the basepath, however, no one scored and Jackson grounded out to end the
frame.
In the seventh, Jackson dealt a leadoff walk to LaRoche. Bautista advanced the
runner with a bunt, but after Wilson hit a fly out to left, Tampa Bay's
starter looked like he might get out of the inning unscathed.
But Jackson grooved a pitch down the middle of the plate to Mientkiewicz, who
smashed a double to right field to plate LaRoche, putting Pittsburgh back in
front by a run. Trever Miller came on for Jackson to get the final out of the
inning.
Damaso Marte entered the game for the Pirates in the eighth and got into a
battle of an at-bat with the pinch-hitter Gomes. Finally, on the 15th pitch,
Gomes swatted the ball deep to center field, just over the fence to knot the
game once more, 3-3.
Dan Wheeler threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth, while Matt Capps tossed a
shutout top of the ninth. Gary Glover worked around a LaRoche single in the
home ninth to set the Pirates down and send the game into extra innings.

Matt Kenseth And Kevin Harvick Favorites To Take NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship
(September 15, 2007)—The NASCAR season has hit the homestretch with the opening event on this year’s Chase for the Cup taking place this weekend at the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. With 10 races remaining to determine the Cup Series champion, leading online sportsbook MySportsbook.com today announced odds on all 10 Chase qualifying drivers capturing the 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship.
One of the largest sportsbook sites on the Internet, MySportsbook.com currently lists the top two drivers in the point standings as the early favorites to win the Nextel Cup. Entering the Chase for the Cup with a slim five-point lead in the point standings, 2003 NASCAR champ Matt Kenseth has been made a slight favorite to win his second Cup at 7/2 betting odds. 2001 Cup Rookie of the Year Kevin Harvick has betting odds listed at 5/2 and four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon is listed at 6/1 to capture the Nextel Cup this year.
Hoping to follow in the footsteps of his legendary father who won six NASCAR titles, Dale Earnhardt Jr. stands at 8/1 to breakthrough with his first Cup victory. Staying with the family theme, MySportsbook.com lists 2005 Rookie of the Year Kyle Busch at 14/1 to succeed big brother Kurt’s 2004 NASCAR title. While Kasey Kahne was the final driver to qualify for the Chase with a third place finish last week, the oddsmakers give him a fighting chance at 10/1 mainly due to several mile-and-a-half tracks remaining on the schedule. Despite going winless on the NASCAR circuit this season, Jeff Burton enters the Chase at 5/1 to capture the Cup title. Meanwhile, rookie Denny Hamlin is 4/1 to win the championship, while veteran driver Mark Martin enters the Chase for the Cup as a 15/1 long shot to win his first NASCAR title in his 24th and final season.
MySportsbook.com will offer comprehensive Nascar betting odds on every race remaining on the Nextel Cup series including driver match-ups, props and odds to win each race. For a complete list of NASCAR odds, please visit www.MySportsbook.com.

Online Sportsbook odds for Stanley Cup
New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.
The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.
MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.
Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.
