Sabres sign C Gaustad to four-year contract

Buffalo, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Buffalo Sabres re-signed centerman
Paul Gaustad to a four-year, contract on Monday.
"We felt it was very important to sign Paul to a multi-year deal at this stage
of his career," Buffalo general manager Darcy Regier said. "He has become an
integral part of our team both on and off the ice in the past three years."
Per club policy, terms were not disclosed but TSN Canada reports the deal
is worth $9.2 million with Gaustad earning $1.7 million in the first year
and $2.5 million per year for the remaining three years. The 26-year-old
has played in parts of four seasons with the Sabres, tallying career-highs
with 10 goals and 39 points in 82 games last season.
In 215 career games, Gaustad has 28 goals and 82 points, all with the Buffalo
organization.
The Fargo, North Dakota, native was scheduled to become a restricted free
agent on Tuesday at noon, when NHL free agency begins.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska running back Marlon Lucky was hospitalized Monday for undisclosed reasons after Lincoln police responded to a call at his residence.
The Nebraska athletic department said in a release Monday that Lucky was admitted Sunday night.

A nursing supervisor at the hospital said all questions about Lucky were being referred to the athletic department. The athletic department said there would be no further comment from the department or Lucky's family.

Lucky, from North Hollywood, Calif., started six games last season as a sophomore and was the team's second-leading rusher, with 728 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught 32 passes for 383 yards. He averaged 19.1 yards on eight kickoff returns.
